Tanya O’Callaghan, Irish musician living in Los Angeles

What influenced you towards the vegan life style, and what has is taught you?

It has always been about the animals for me, I’ve been a vegan basically my whole life. I realised who meat came from around age 5 and refused to eat it from then on, and I never liked the taste of dairy.

Throughout my childhood and teens I was constantly learning more and more about the over all benefits of a plant based lifestyle; not just for our individual health, but for the health of the whole planet.

Being a lifelong vegan taught me a lot of patience as I was alone on my journey for the first 10 plus years, there wasn’t many veggie/vegans around back then. It also made me very self aware and curious to always be learning, growing and understanding – not only the nutrition side of plant based living, but also in business as the world shifts more and more towards plant based and sustainability.

I have also learnt that I did not die from a protein deficiency, here I am all these years later ha!ha! 😉

Are you involved in any vegan related activity? How would you like to be more supportive to the cause?

My whole life and career is about using the platform I have from the music industry to be an activist and spread awareness.

I’m deeply involved in the vegan movement and have been since childhood; from working in rescue shelters and being a part of protests around the world, to working with people in the plant based investment realm. I also produce and co-host a vegan travel and culture show called Highway to Health – due to be released early 2021.
