Meet Kate O’Neill, make-up artist from Ireland

What influenced you towards the vegan life style, and what has is taught you?

I have always had a love of animals from a young age and constantly had the internal conflict of ‘if I love animals, why am I eating them?’. I went vegetarian when I was 16 and instantly felt my guilty conscience fade away. However it wasn’t until my final year of college that I started researching the egg and dairy industry and discovering the horrors of these. I started watching Earthling Ed and Joey Carbstrong on Youtube, both of whom really opened my eyes. I learned that we simply do not need animal products to live a full and healthy life while still enjoying food. Plus everything tastes better when you know you haven’t contributed to cruelty!

Are you involved in any vegan related activity? How would you like to be more supportive to the cause?

I use my Instagram page to promote veganism by showing recipes and sharing facts about the vegan lifestyle and how it helps the animals and our planet. I also love to discuss veganism with friends and family and help them to see a different perspective. I would definitely like to be more involved in the movement by attending marches or vigils in the future.
